Facelift & Neck Lift (Rhytidectomy)

LOOK LIKE YOUR BEST SELF. Your face is a reflection of your life, and life experiences play a role in the changes in your face over time. A facelift can improve the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and re-draping the skin on your face and neck.

Surgery and recovery

A facelift usually takes about three hours to perform. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and oral sedation at Dr. Harris’ facility, or if you prefer, under a general anesthesia on an outpatient basis at the day surgery facility. You can also have additional procedures at the same time, such as eyelid surgery, brow lift and chin augmentation.

Incisions are concealed in the hairline at the temples, extend in a natural line in front of the ear (or just inside the cartilage at the front of the ear), and continue behind the ear to the lower scalp. If the neck needs work, a small incision may also be made under the chin.

There isn’t usually any significant discomfort after surgery, and the stitches dissolve within two weeks. Patients are usually up in a day or two but should take it easy for a week after surgery. Most patients are back to work about two weeks after surgery.
