Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

DROOPING UPPER LIDS AND PUFFY BAGS below your eyes may make you look older and more tired than you feel and may interfere with your vision.

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty removes fat and excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids.

Eyelid surgery can be done alone or in conjunction with other facial surgeries, such as a facelift or brow lift.

Surgery and recovery

Dr. Harris performs eyelid surgery at his facility under local anesthesia with oral sedation. You will be awake during the surgery, but relaxed and not sensitive to pain. The procedure takes about an hour. Incisions will follow the natural lines of your eyelids—in the creases of your upper lids and just below the lashes in your lower lids.

The stitches will dissolve a week after surgery. Most people feel ready to go out in public, and back to work, in one to two weeks—and by this time makeup can hide any remaining bruising.
