Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) & Belly Buttons (Umbilicoplasty)

SOMETIMES DIET AND EXERCISE JUST AREN’T ENOUGH.  Perhaps you have lost a lot of weight or have excess skin and fat around your midsection. In either case, a tummy tuck may be a great option.

A tummy tuck produces a permanent scar from hip to hip. Women who plan future pregnancies should wait, as muscles tightened during surgery will separate again in pregnancy.

An umbilicoplasty is a procedure to change the appearance of a belly button, often to change an “outie” to an “innie”. Many times this procedure is done by itself without an abdominoplasty, in which case it is usually performed  at Dr. Harris’ office under a local anesthesia.

Surgery and recovery

This operation is performed under general anesthesia, usually on an outpatient basis. If your fat deposits are limited to the area below the navel, you may only need a mini-abdominoplasty, which eliminates a scar around your belly-button. Stitches come out after three weeks and most people can return to work at that time.
